Adult First Aid & CPR

The Adult First Aid & CPR course is a 6 hour course that covers standard adult first aid and CPR. Both initial certification and re-certifications are available. The course also addresses situations that body modification practitioners are likely to encounter in their day to day working environment.

Sterilization: From Start to Finish

Sterilization: From Start to Finish is a 6-8 hour hands on workshop that not only examines the theory behind cleaning, decontamination and sterilization, it also thoroughly explains and demonstrates the sterilization process in a body modification studio setting. Documentation, troubleshooting, equipment management and quality control practices are also addressed.

Bloodborne Pathogens Course

Friday August 29th, 2008 - The Westin Hotel
The Health Educators Bloodborne Pathogens course is by far the most comprehensive industry specific Bloodborne Pathogens training program available for the body modification industry. This in depth 6-7 hour course covers both regulations and training requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030), and is unique in that it is taught and applied specifically to the body modification industry. A Bloodborne Pathogens course should be completed by all tattoo studio artists and owners every year.

Covers all aspects of doing a portrait tattoo, including wildlife. A lso covers black and grey technique in general. It lasts 2-3 hours, costs and comes with a booklet that goes over the entire process of doing a realistic portrait.

A class/seminar on Custom Lettering for Tattoo Artists, emphasizing lettering styles, layout and font design. At the end of this seminar you will be able to use the tools of design properly, be able to layout lettering on the body as required for tattooing, learn the rules of design and be able to apply them to creating custom lettering and knowing how to create proper work-flow based on your personal needs.

Understanding general theory, readings, functionality and adjustments. From trouble shooting and everyday care, to optimizing machine efficiency. This seminar lasts 2-3 hours. Theory will cover tools, machine parts and principles necessary to customize machines to your preference and style of tattooing. You are welcome to bring some of your own machines.

Portrait Painting from Reference with Shawn Barber

In this 3 Hour Painting Seminar, Shawn will create a portrait painting from reference, including discussion and demonstration on palette setup, medium choices, color mixing, constructing a drawing and painting the figure. Includes Shawn's Foundation Painting DVD by Massive Black ($55 Retail) and a booklet with palette setup, head construction drawing and anatomy.

A comprehensive class covering Tips, Techniques, and Troubleshooting for both mediums. A sketch demonstration will include; “Choosing proper photo reference”, “Tracing”, “Materials”, and Pencil techniques. The paint portion focuses on “Working with Acrylics”. “Materials”, “Setting up a working colour palette”, and “Brush technique”. This seminar is included in the cost of the Acrylic Painting class. It is recommended as a prerequisite to the painting class, but not required.
